Brainergy - Optimal Learning - Home Resources Because Your Gray Matter Matters

"True learning is experience, everything else is just information." So said Albert Einstein. In the dozen years that I have been studying and teaching about human brain function the wisdom of those words becomes more and more profound to me with each passing breath. To know one thing well is to possess it through thoughtful practice and reflective experience.

I enjoy reading more than just about any other activity. It inspires and excites me. Therefore I am providing an extensive bibliography in this section. But teaching humans how to strengthen and nourish the integrity of their central nervous system (of which the brain is the primary structure) requires a combination of information, daily practice, behavioral change, personal understanding, and positive experience. Reading books and taking notes may be necessary, but it is seldom sufficient to develop an optimal brain or to become a more fulfilled and useful human. I often see clients who read many of the recommended books with relish, but fail to practice even one of the author's recommended behaviors for a week. Then it appears to be time for the "New, New Thing." Enjoy the insights and knowledge of the researchers, physicians, scientists and writers listed in this reading list. But please remember to make their knowledge your own by experiencing what they have taught you. It may not be easy, but it is glorious!

Web surfing is also fun, informative, and inspirational. But I have listed only a few sites at this point. Scientific journal sites have been omitted because most of them require subscription fees. We will add more sites in the near term.
